What is the most important thing a woman with 270 for cholesterol can do to lower her cholsterol, naturally?

I am looking for natural ways to lower my cholesterol. I am suppose to be taking lipitor as prescribed by my doctor, but would like to try alternative, natural ways. While I know everyone is different, I am looking for advice from someone who might have been in a similar situation or has treated someone in a similar situation.

Cholesterol comoes from ALL ANIMAL PROTIENS so reduce your meat, eggs and dairy intake (including cooking in animal fat eg., butter). Eat more veggies, nuts, legumes and high fibre foods. You can also eat fish (omega 3 is good fat). Also red wine has been said to help loweing cholesterol.

Garlic is another remedy to lower cholesterol, but since it does give a bad breath, take garlic pills. Apart from that plenty of fluids and exercise in moderation.
