I got some test results back and I know they are normal and nothing to worry about. But I'd like to know if they are of the order "OK and continue as you do" or "OK but it wouldn't hurt to improve". Where in the range of a Cholesterol/HDL% does 2.6 lie and what does it mean?
Look at your test results once again, and check the milligrams of HDL (the "good" cholesterol – easy to remember, just think H for Healthy.) A reading of 40 mgs or higher is desirable. If you would like to raise your HDL levels, avoid refined carbohydrates (white flour stuff, high sugar sweets) and work-out. Here is a link from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute that provides details of cholestrol profiles. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/Hbc/HBC_Diagnosis.html This link summarizes the findings of a Georgetown University exercise physiologist who studied HDL, diet and exercise.
