here's a technical question for the doctors out there. with all the bad news about drug-raised HDL cholesterol levels, does that cast doubt on whether foods that raise HDL are also bad?
I just read this story and am trying to understand it better as to whether it casts any doubt on whether this good cholesterol is truly good or whether the drugs just have bad side effects.

The bad news was not about "drug raised HDL" as much as it was about the failure of the drug(s) themselves in trials. Except for Ashley/Razwell/Mike/Michael and their idols, HDL is still thought to be protective against atherosclerosis.
The "cholesterol is a conspiracy" crowd only reports THEIR interpretations of medical research. Even many docs have trouble interpreting research. I certainly wouldn't trust the words of a few people against the world medical community.
