Reducing cholesterol level can be done through your diet. I will just add on to the points that other people did not mention.

Avoiding food that is high in cholesterol is essential. Thus, you need to identify what are the food that contain high cholesterol. Some of food that are high cholesterols would be:
1. Organs (liver, intestines)
2. Egg yolk
3. Banana may contain cholesterol

Also, try to eat food that is high in fiber as they can help in reducing cholesterol. One good example would be barley.

Exercising like jogging would also help.

Supplements e.g. red yeast rice extract , brand name available hypocol claims to help in balancing between your "good" and "bad" cholesterol. You may want to try.
References :
Your cholesterol levels suggest that action be taken immediately to reduce them. A very low level of dietary fat is suggested. Follow some or all of the following.
Reduce fat intake to 25% of calories.
Eliminate partially hydrogenated vegetable oils from your diet. This means no margarine, no deep fat fried items such as French fries, fried chicken, etc.
Eliminate snacking, particularly items like potato chips, Oreos and other cookies, substitute fresh fruit items instead.

Try following these suggestions for a couple of weeks then measure your cholesterol level with a home test and see how much of a reduction that these changes have made. Good luck.
References :
i really cant help u whether ur cholestrol is up or not... but if u feel like its up, then definitely reduce eating deep fried food, infact try not to eat from outside as much as possible.
and i dont remember where from, but i am sure read it , nuts, eat nuts because they reduce cholestrolleverl in blood [nuts = in urdu language we call it "akh-road"]
and there is other dry fruit that is best recommanded if any part of ur body stops working.. thats when u develop blockades in ur arteries or veins with cholestrol ,,, in urdu we call in "in-jeer" , its like a doughnut in shape, very small, blackish brown.. it has a sweet taste. "in-jeer" clears up cholestrol if any accumalates in arteries.
