I've read that eating oatmeal every day can lower your cholesterol, but just how effective is it? Would you have to eat tons and tons of it for it to be effective? Or is it how regularly you eat it that lowers your cholesterol?
You are probably correct in estimating you would have to consume a very large volume of oatmeal for it to have an effect equivalent to medication for lowering cholesterol.I think in a best case scenario a cup a day if you are on a cardiac diet may knock 8-10 pts off your total chol. reading.
