What foods are safe to eat if you have high cholesterol?
I am 25 years old. I recently had a routine physical with a blood test and my doctor told me after the results came in that my cholesterol is a little high ( a little he said)
What are some foods i can eat to help me lower it? I am confused because alot of the packages at the store contain cholesterol and saturated fats etc…
I am young and in good shape, i eat alot of pasta maybe thats what did it?
any suggestions i would be grateful

No, pasta is ok.
Avoid oily and fatty foods. Especially fried and junk foods. Avoid pastries and pies, biscuits etc.
Eat loads of fruit and vegetables – a few every day if this is possible. At your age now is the time to develop healthy eating habits that will help you to remain healthy all your life.
And get plenty of fresh air and exercise.
I am 75, and have been active and fit all my life, but 2 years ago I suddenly found I could not walk even for 10 minutes without feeling faint and sick.
This was cholesterol. I seem ok at the moment, cos I have had 5 stents put in, but it was a timely warning. I should really be dead now!

Porridge is supposed to be good for cholesterol reduction (due to beta glucagen) and contains very little fat (check the side of a packet of Quaker Oats for example).
Try mixing half a cupful or Porridge with a cupful of water in a saucepan and bring to the boil and then heat for about 3-4 minutes and if you have to sweeten it, try using a little bit of honey.
There are loads of different brands of porridge including ones with fruit and nuts in if you become bored with just porridge oats such as Quaker oats, Scotts Porage oats.
Waitrose do a wide variety of porridges, I like Jordans organic Jumbo sized porridge oats, very nice!
It also sets you up well for the rest of the day as it is Low GI meaning you will feel fuller for longer.

I was told by my doctor that I have high cholestoral. He advised me to stay away from fried foods and gave me OMEGA-3 (fish oil) pills. I have to take them daily with meals. You can also cut down on carbs and start working out daily.
I’m only 21yrs old and couldn’t believe I had high cholestoral. Afterall, I only weigh 135lbs and am considered healthy according to my age and height.
