blockage? and can someone please explain to me general information about hdl and ldl cholesterols, thank you
ldl cholesterol deposits fats on the artery walls. Hdl carries fats out of the arterial wall for use by the body. A bad ldl is more serious than a bad hdl number. Inflammation in an artery is also a big risk factor. It appears to be a bigger risk than total cholesterol number. A blockage happens when a piece of arterial plaque breaks off the walls and travels. As it gets to a narrow spot it can stop blood flow and cause a stroke or a heart attack. If arterial wall is flexible (not hardening ) then the plaque is stable then it is less chance for a piece of plaque to break off. Oily fish 2- 3 times a week or fish oil capsules every day will keep the blood free flowing and keep clots from forming, same as baby aspirin but much safer.
